NEW ALAMEIN, June 25 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said that Egypt, under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, had called from the beginning of the Iran-Israel crisis for restraint to prevent a broader regional war.

In a press conference following the weekly cabinet meeting, Madbouli welcomed the ceasefire after 12 days of fighting, affirming that the region narrowly avoided a wider conflict. He confirmed that Egypt had been in continuous contact with all sides to encourage de-escalation.

The premier also condemned attacks on Qatar during the crisis and noted that President Sisi contacted Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to express Egypt’s support for Gulf security.

He added that Egyptian diplomacy maintained contact with all involved parties to push for de-escalation. Talks included actors in Israel, Iran, and Gaza.

Madbouli affirmed that Egypt continues to engage with all sides and hopes the coming period will bring more stability. (MENA)
