CAIRO, July 3 (MENA ) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s support for launching a purely Syrian-inclusive political process free from external dictates or interference.

During a phone call Thursday with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, the Egyptian foreign minister underlined Egypt’s support for launching a comprehensive political process that is purely Syrian-owned, free from external interference.

The process should preserve and support the unity and stability of Syria and its people with all their components and groups and adopt an all-out approach that brings together all national forces in the country, Abdelatty said.

The Syrian foreign minister reviewed the overall political, economic, and security developments in Syria, as Abdelatty was posted on his Syrian counterpart’s assessment of the anticipated consequences of lifting US sanctions on Syria in the coming period.

The discussion also addressed repeated Israeli violations and breaches of Syrian sovereignty.

For his part, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s complete rejection of the repeated Israeli violations of Syrian sovereignty and any attempts to undermine the unity and integrity of Syrian territory.

The two ministers also tackled ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, with minister Abdelatty stressing the importance of Syria being a source of stability in the region. (MENA)
