CAIRO, June 21 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had a phone call on Saturday with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian, during which Sisi emphasized Egypt's categorical rejection of Israel's ongoing escalation against Iran.

The Israeli escalation constitutes a threat to the security and stability of the Middle East at a very delicate time when the region is already suffering multiple and exacerbating crises, Sisi said, according to Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy.

Sisi asserted the importance of an immediate ceasefire to allow for resuming negotiations in order to reach a peaceful and sustainable settlement to the current crisis, the spokesman said.

Highlighting the importance of de-escalation efforts to break the cycle of violence, Sisi stressed that "there are no military solutions to this crisis."

Sisi also emphasized that the only way to ensure sustainable stability in the Middle East is by establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state solution, as per the resolutions of international legitimacy, the spokesman noted.

Meanwhile, the Iranian leader hailed Egypt's wise positions in favor of restoring stability in the Middle East in such a manner that would end the bloodshed on all sides.

Pezeshkian also affirmed his country's agreement with Cairo's position as regards the need to find a just, comprehensive, and final solution to the Palestinian issue, the spokesman pointed out. (MENA)
