PORT SAID, Egypt, May 10 (MENA) – Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has witnessed the signing of an agreement to supply 21 metro train units with a total of 189 carriages for Alexandria Metro Project.
The deal was inked during the premier’s visit to the factory of the National Egyptian Railway Industries Company (NERIC) in Port Said in the presence of Kamel El Wazir, Transport and Industry Minister, and Walid Gamal Eddin, head of the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).
The deal value hits some 275 million euros, including the supply of spare parts, equipment and maintenance works for 10 years, while the contract term is 38 months.
The contract was signed by Tarek Gowaily, president of the National Authority for Tunnels, and Ahmed El Mofti, managing director of NERIC.
The premier said the deal has been signed under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to expand in establishing environment-friendly networks of transport to serve citizens in light of the Transport Ministry’s plans to carry out a number of green transport projects in Alexandria governorate.
