CAIRO, May 10 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli inaugurated a dry bulk wheat terminal at West Port Said Port during his visit to the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

The facility includes eight silos with a total storage capacity of 100,000 tons and a discharge rate of 1,200 tons per hour. Built at a cost of EGP 1 billion, the terminal will handle up to 36 vessels annually and create 275 jobs.

The terminal raises Egypt’s total seaport wheat storage capacity to 530,000 tons across six locations. It aims to speed up offloading, reduce transport costs, and support national food security. It is connected to the rail network to improve distribution efficiency.

For his part, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouq described the terminal as a strategic step to manage grain imports more effectively.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority, Walid Gamal El Din, described the project as a model of integrated logistics and food infrastructure, turning ports into operational hubs that support regional and global supply chains. (MENA)
