CAIRO, May 18 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said that the government continues to develop its customs system, including expanding the Advance Cargo Information (ACI) system, to improve import procedures and support investment.
These remarks came during a meeting with many ministers and customs officials to review progress.
During the talks, the attendees discussed steps being taken to reduce clearance times and streamline customs procedures, especially for production inputs.
These include upgrading digital systems, expanding pre-clearance services for approved companies, and improving coordination across logistics centers.
For their part, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Affairs and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel Al Wazir, and Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk, confirmed that electronic classification tools, automated systems, and integration with the “Nafeza” platform are being implemented.
Between January and mid-May 2024, the total value of cleared goods reached $105.3 billion, including $43.5 billion in production materials and $26.4 billion in strategic goods.
The government aims to accelerate the rollout of the system to further cut delays and support the industrial sector. (MENA)
