CAIRO, July 10 (MENA) - Cabinet spokesman Mohamed el Homsani said the State successfully activated a backup plan after the Ramses Exchange fire, using alternative telecom centers to maintain services.

He explained in a TV interview that data was initially shifted partially, then fully, to other exchanges as the fire continued. Services were affected in some areas but did not fully stop.

The spokesman noted that Egypt’s telecom investments over recent years allowed continued connection during the incident.

Homsani also confirmed that, under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives, a committee will investigate the incident and oversee full restoration of Ramses Exchange.

He added that the fire highlighted the importance of strengthening emergency response plans. (MENA)
