CAIRO, July 3 (MENA) – Belarus sees strong political dialogue with Egypt as the foundation of their growing ties, supported by trust-based relations between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko, Ambassador of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Terentiev said.
Speaking to the Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Belarus’s national day, Terentiev noted intensified political contact since 2014, with high-level visits including Lukashenko's trips to Egypt in 1998, 2017, and 2020, and Sisi’s 2019 visit to Minsk. He welcomed upcoming Egyptian delegations, including for a joint trade committee meeting in Minsk.
He said Belarus is ready to deepen industrial and tech cooperation, citing new projects like animal feed and grain centers in Egypt using Belarusian equipment, and joint initiatives in water treatment and recycling.
Belarus views Egypt as a strategic partner and gateway to Africa, the ambassador said, citing joint tractor and machinery production, offers of medical equipment and services, and advanced training for Egyptian medical students in Belarus.
He expressed readiness to expand pharmaceutical manufacturing and export with Egypt, and to collaborate on climate-resilient agriculture and water management.
He highlighted that tourism also remains strong, with about 100,000 Belarusian visitors annually, helped by direct flights to Red Sea resorts.
On Gaza, Terentiev voiced Belarus’s support for Egypt’s mediation efforts and a two-state solution, condemning the increasing number of civilian casualties and the forced displacement of Palestinians. He said Belarus is willing to assist in Gaza’s reconstruction and will host Palestinian children at a rehabilitation center in Belarus.
