CAIRO, June 28 (MENA) – Amr Abdel Nabi, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Supply Chain Association (EHSCA), outlined plans to strengthen national healthcare by forming partnerships across Africa and China.
In statements to MENA at the 4th Africa Health ExCon, he said that the association, founded by healthcare and logistics experts, serves as a civil society partner supporting medicine and medical supply logistics in coordination with Egypt’s Unified Procurement Authority.
He said that the group acts as a bridge between the government and private sector, taking part in national projects and supporting Egypt’s goal to boost local production of medicines and supplies under Vision 2030.
The association, along with EGY HEALTH, will host a forum in Cairo this September to launch a partnership with Chinese investors, according to him.
The plan includes introducing vaccine manufacturing technology and smart medical logistics, such as AI-based distribution and automated supply systems, he said.
Abdel Nabi added that the association also supports building a pan-African emergency supply network based in Cairo.
He noted that, according to the World Health Organization, up to 50% of healthcare costs in developing countries are lost due to inefficient supply chains.
Finally, he affirmed that the initiative complements Egypt’s broader pharmaceutical strategy, including the establishment of Gypto Pharma and the digitalization of the Unified Procurement Authority, which has reduced medicine waste by 35%, according to reports by the Ministry of Health and Population.
