CAIRO, June 19 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised Slovenia’s supportive stance regarding the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people as well as its balanced approach toward developments in the region.
The top diplomat made the remarks during a phone call on Thursday with Tanja Fajon, Slovenia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs.
Abdelatty commended the development of Egyptian-Slovenian relations and the distinguished ties between the two countries.
He emphasized the importance of building on the current momentum in bilateral relations to elevate them to broader horizons.
Both sides exchanged views on regional developments of mutual interest.
Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's efforts to resume the ceasefire in Gaza and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip.
He outlined Egypt’s position regarding the military escalation between Israel and Iran and its serious repercussions on regional security and stability.
He stressed the need to halt the escalation, return to negotiations and resort to political and diplomatic solutions to prevent the region from sliding into a cycle of violence and chaos.
Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s keenness to coordinate closely with Slovenia, particularly in light of its membership of the UN Security Council. (MENA)
