CAIRO, June 17 (MENA) – Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut said that the newly signed free trade agreement with Egypt marks a turning point in the relationship between the two countries.
He stated the agreement sets the foundation for greater trade, investment, and collaboration in sectors such as energy, manufacturing, and agriculture.
Speaking at the Egypt-Serbia Business Forum in the New Administrative Capital on Tuesday, Macut praised the long-standing ties between Cairo and Belgrade, dating back over a century.
He also praised recent presidential visits for moving the partnership forward, especially after the 2022 visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Belgrade and the 2024 visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to Cairo.
Macut invited Egypt to participate in EXPO 2027 in Belgrade and said Serbia is ready to increase the presence of its products in Egyptian markets.
The Serbian PM stated that there are around 40 Egyptian-owned businesses currently operating in Serbia, adding that the current trade volume stands at around $122 million, with potential for significant growth. (MENA)
