CAIRO, June 17 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and his Serbian counterpart Djuro Macut expressed shared support for respecting state sovereignty and de-escalating Middle East tensions during a joint press conference held on Tuesday in the the government’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
Madbouly warned that continued military escalation in the region risks widespread destruction and called for an immediate ceasefire. He reaffirmed Egypt’s stance on the Palestinian issue, advocating a two-state solution based on the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, and praised Serbia's vote in favor of Palestine’s full UN membership.
The premier said talks between the two sides covered bilateral cooperation in tourism and culture, including plans to boost flights between the two countries. He reiterated Egypt’s support for Serbia’s territorial integrity and the “Open Balkan” initiative, and thanked Serbia for backing Egypt’s UNESCO director-general nominee.
