CAIRO, June 10 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi signed Law no. 84 of 2025, amending some provisions of the Senate Law, which was issued by Law no. 141 of 2020.
The amendments stipulate that Egypt shall be divided into 27 constituencies allocated for elections as per the individual-seat system, and four constituencies allocated for elections through the list-based system. As for the four list-based constituencies, two shall be allocated 13 seats each, and the other two shall be allocated 37 seats each.
Each 13-seat list must include at least three women, while each 37-seat list must include at least seven women, to ensure the representation of women in the electoral process.
The law has been published in the official gazette out Tuesday. (MENA)
