The Arab leaders emphasized the sanctity of occupied Jerusalem and its religious significance to all Abrahamic faiths, strongly condemning Israel's ongoing attempts to Judaize the city and alter its Arab-Islamic-Christian identity and violate the historic and legal status quo of its holy sites.
They emphasized the need to protect the holy sites in Bethlehem and preserve their cultural and religious identity, reaffirming their full support for the Hashemite custodianship led by King Abdullah II of Jordan over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and his pivotal role in safeguarding the city’s identity.
They confirmed that Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, with its entire area of 144 dunams, is a sacred place of worship for Muslims only and rejected any infringement on this religious and legal fact.
The leaders reiterated their support for the role of the Jerusalem Committee, chaired by King Mohammed VI of Morocco, and for Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency in defending the Holy City and bolstering the resilience of its inhabitants.
They commended the historic stances taken by several European countries, especially Spain, Norway, and Ireland, which officially recognized the State of Palestine in May 2024. The leaders stressed that this step represents a commitment to justice and international legitimacy.
They urged other countries to follow suit, affirming that history will record such stances and that human principles and international law remain the ultimate reference for securing the rights of the Palestinian people as the rightful owners of the land and their fate.
The Arab leaders also expressed full support and appreciation for South Africa's position in the genocide case it filed at the International Court of Justice against Israel, the occupying power, for committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. They praised South Africa’s honorable stances in supporting the Palestinian cause and advocating for the people in their just struggle. (MORE)
