TANTA, Egypt, May 8 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli described the new Tanta Oncology Hospital as part of the state’s efforts to modernize healthcare infrastructure and improve the quality of services provided to cancer patients, particularly in the field of early detection, which significantly increases recovery rates.

During an inspection tour in Gharbia Thursday, Madbouli added that the development of the new center supports efforts to reduce waiting lists, especially since it is designed to serve several neighboring governorates.

Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar explained that the new hospital aims to diagnose and treat cancer, promote health education, and support early detection initiatives.

It will serve the governorates of Gharbia, Kafr El Sheikh, and Menoufia, in addition to parts of Beheira, with a capacity to handle around 20,000 new patients annually, alongside the 250,000 patients currently receiving care at the existing oncology center, he added.

Anwar Ismail, Assistant Minister for National Projects, said the new hospital is expected to receive over 400,000 visitors each year.

It is designed to offer comprehensive cancer diagnosis and treatment services not available at the old center, including radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, MRI scans, and bone marrow transplants, he added. (MENA)
