CAIRO, June 11 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty met on Wednesday with Syrian Foreign Minister in the new transitional government Asaad al-Shaibani on the sidelines of the Oslo Forum.
Shaibani briefed Abdelatty on the political, security, and economic developments in Syria, as well as the internal and external challenges facing the country recently, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said.
Egypt's top diplomat reiterated his country's support for the Syrian people and for efforts exerted to achieve security and stability in the country and preserve its territorial integrity as well as the unity of its national institutions.
He stressed the importance of achieving sustainable stability in Syria by involving all Syrian national powers in the political process in a way that reflects the societal, religious, sectarian, and ethnic diversity within Syria.
Abdelatty also emphasized the importance of combating terrorism and addressing the phenomenon of foreign fighters to maintain sustainable stability in Syria.
He warned of the grave consequences of foreign interference in Syria, condemning Israel's repeated violations of Syrian sovereignty and its continued occupation of Syrian territory. (MENA)
