CAIRO, May 22 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed on Thursday Egypt’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with the European Union as regards the different pillars outlined in the joint declaration upgrading relations between the two sides to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Abdelatty made the remarks during his meeting in Brussels with European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Olivér Várhelyi.
Abdelatty said Egypt hopes of more facilitations by the EU to ensure Egyptian products' access into European markets, especially agricultural ones.
He called for examining existing quotas designated for Egyptian agricultural exports under the EU-Egypt Association Agreement in a bid to increase trade exchange.
The top diplomat reiterated Egypt’s interest in obtaining technical support in the agricultural and food sectors, and in benefiting from European expertise in health and pharmaceutical industries through launching joint initiatives to strengthen pharmaceutical supply chains, transfer technology, and establish local pharmaceutical manufacturing partnerships in Egypt.
He also proposed initiating technical cooperation programs that would help expand Egyptian exports to the EU and improve the competitiveness of Egyptian pharmaceutical products in European markets. (MENA)
