CAIRO, May 11 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s stance calling for the necessity to reform the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
He emphasized that Egypt’s stance is based on the African position in accordance with the “Ezulwini Consensus” and the “Sirte Declaration,” as well as the foundations of the Arab position on this issue.
This came during Abdelatty's meeting on Sunday with Permanent Representative of the State of Kuwait to the UN and Chair of the Intergovernmental Negotiations (IGN) Tareq Albanai on reform of security council.
Abdelatty praised the role of Kuwait in leading the intergovernmental negotiations on security council reform over the past years and during the current session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Abdelatty also affirmed Egypt’s support for the role of the “Committee of Ten” chaired by Sierra Leone, which is responsible for strengthening and supporting the unified African position in the ongoing intergovernmental negotiations on Security Council reform. (MENA)
